MATLAB acussing graphics card out of date with correct installed drivers

Hi all,

I am trying to train a DL network with my GPU on MATLAB. However, when I run the command gpuDevice, following message appears:

I went to https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us and downloaded the latest drivers for my GPU (geforce 920M), that is recognized. Also CUDA version is shown as 10.2.

Any ideas on why MATLAB is not recognizing it?

Matheus, which version of MATLAB are you using?

The driver output states that it supports CUDA toolkit v10.1, but since R2020b MATLAB has been built with later toolkit versions and it requires a driver that will match this - see the table in https://uk.mathworks.com/help/releases/R2021b/parallel-computing/gpu-support-by-release.html It appears that NVidia have stopped producing new drivers for this GPU model which will limit you to using MATLAB R2020a.

(As an aside, since this GPU has a small amount of memory and a low power limit, it is likely to struggle to effectively train anything except a small DL network.)

Oh I see, thanks for the clarification. I am using R2022b version so thatt must be the reason the gpu is not being recognized. As I have a student licence, I believe there is no way to go back to R2020a.

About computation capabilities, I am currently using my CPU (i5-5200u) for trainining a yolov4 object detector to recognize an LED Matriz with almost 500 images. I still did not get a good result but I am working on that, my idea was to use the gpu to boost the training process using paralel computing toolbox.

Hi Matheus, I won't pretend I have a full understanding of our different licenses, but it is possible that you would be allowed to run an older version even if you can't access the archive of old release downloads from your MathWorks account. If you have IT support at your institution they may be able to help with providing a downloaded installer.

Hi Richard,

The student licence I own is the one offered for individual students, so it is not controlled by my educational institution (even though I could buy it with discount because of my student status).

Anyway, I will try to change the release. Tks for the help!
