Running Python Code in Matlab

I have some scripts dowloaded and put into a folder on my desktop that are python code. I have python installed but I'm just having a hard time figuring out how to get matlab to see that I have it installed then run the scripts

Have you followed the first two Topics listed on this documentation page to set up Python and configure MATLAB to know where to find it?

I've tried the pyrun and pyrunfile but have not had much luck. Is there a step that I am missing?
