Utilizing the HDF5 library in Matlab

I want to be able to use the HDF5 C library in Matlab which Matlab seems to already have access to under the hood since Matlab has HDF5 high and low level functions. While it would be ideal to use these built in functions, there are certain functionalities like H5Pset_virtual_prefix and H5Pset_efile_prefix() which are not part of 2022a yet as far as I know. Does anybody know how I can directly use these functions from Matlab? I am open to alternatives but very much prefer to stay in Matlab for maintainability as I fear using external libraries might make the code less portable across operating systems.

MATLAB does not provide an interface to those calls.
You would have to use an external library, and call it from inside MATLAB; https://www.mathworks.com/help/matlab/call-cpp-library-functions.html
