Hi Ahtasham,
I understand that you want to kickstart with Link Budget Analysis for DECT 2020 NR. Initiating Link Budget Analysis for DECT 2020 NR requires a grasp of both its general principles and the specifics of this technology. DECT 2020 NR, a novel standard for diverse communication needs including IoT, shares foundational link budget analysis principles with other wireless technologies, despite its newness. Key Specifications of DECT 2020 NR includes:
  • Frequency Bands
  • Transmit Power
  • Receiver Sensitivity
  • Antenna Gain
Steps for performing Link Budget Analysis:
1.Define Objectives: Determine goals for DECT 2020 NR deployment, such as coverage, data rates, or IoT device battery optimization.
2.Gather Technical Specifications: Collect DECT 2020 NR specifications like transmitter power, receiver sensitivity, and antenna gains from datasheets, ETSI standards, or equipment manufacturers.
3.Select a Path Loss Model: Choose an appropriate path loss model that suits the deployment environment, crucial for accurate analysis in varied settings like indoors or urban areas.
4.Calculate Path Loss: Use selected path loss model to calculate expected signal attenuation over distance. This will involve operational frequency of DECT 2020 NR devices and specific environment of deployment.
5.Account for Margins: Include margins for fading, interference, and other uncertainties. Common practice is to add a fade margin to ensure the system can handle variations in signal strength due to environmental factors.
6.Compile the Link Budget: Using the formula-
[ \text{Received Power (dBm)} = \text{Transmitted Power (dBm)} + \text{Gains (dB)} - \text{Losses (dB)} ]
Gains include antenna gains and losses cover path loss, fade margin, and any other losses (e.g., cable losses, connector losses).
7.Analyze and Adjust: Evaluate results of link budget analysis. If the received power is above the receiver sensitivity, the system should be viable. If not, consider adjustments such as increasing transmit power, using antennas with higher gain, or reevaluating the deployment environment.
For modelling DECT 2020 NR networks and considering parameter interactions, MATLAB/Simulink is recommended. For detailed specifications, consult ETSI standards, which offer comprehensive technical details for precise calculations. Please refer to following documentation links -
Hope it helps!
Best Regards,
Simar
