Using gyro angle and infrared sensor in the stateflow in Simulink

I would like to try Matlab as an alternative for programming the Lego Mindstorms robots. At most i'm interested in using stateflow model in Simulink.
I have successfully tried a simple example on my EV3, but I'm unable to use the proximity values of infrared sensor and rotation angle of gyro sensor in the stateflow (or any other Simulink model). Is there a way how to integrate it into the stateflow model?
