Depletion Mode MOSFET Model

Unfortunately with the current implementation of the Simulink Electronics MOSFET (R2016a) model there is no way to model a depletion mode MOSFET through the parameters as it doesn't allow for gate-source voltages below zero. I am looking for some help with this problem. I wish to work with the Simulink block instead of the SPICE MOSFET block because the former includes the heat flow model while the later does not. At the moment I am attempting to get around this issue by making a sub system with a SPICE depletion mode MOSFET and its associated heat model as detailed here. If anyone knows a better way please share!
