the code below is aiming to remove Arabic prefix but there is erroe
str = native2unicode('اليومين','UTF-8');
prefix=native2unicode( 'ال','UTF-8'); % The prefix to remove
suffix = 'ين'; % The suffix to remove
str = strrep(str,prefix, '')

What version of Matlab do you have?
