I am trying to show the density of a bone model in .stl file by colouring it. Anyone has any idea how can I do it ?

I am trying to show a 3D model of bone in .stl format I thought to show the density variation of the 3D model I would use heat-map in Matlab but I am unable to do so anyone has any idea how should I proceed or any other better way to get there ?
Any help appreciated, Thank you in advance.
