I have the latest version of Java.
I am running macOS Sierra version 10.12.3.
I have the following products:
MATLAB 9.1,
Simulink 8.8,
Control System Toolbox 10.1,
DSP System Toolbox 9.3,
Signal Processing Toolbox 7.3,
Simscape 4.1,
Simscape Electronics 2.10,
Simscape Power Systems 6.6,
Simulink Control Design 4.4,
Stateflow 8.8,
Symbolic Math Toolbox 7.1,
System Identification Toolbox 9.5.
I get the error even when I attempt to install MATLAB only.
The error report:

If your macOS is installed on a VM, the following link may be relevant to the issue and could help you resolve it.
Otherwise, as Walter mentioned, you should consider contacting MathWorks Installation Support for help in troubleshooting the issue.

Ah, that was a Java issue for OS-X 10.8, which was Mountain Lion. I never bothered to set up a VM for an OS-X that old -- I think that was the first OS-X that you could legally run in a VM without a special Server license.
