How to interface intel Edison board with Matlab using Intel System Studio?

Is it possible to interface intel Edison board with Matlab using Intel System Studio? I would like to implement neural network in the intel Edison board, is any possible way to do it?

This link shows general way of communication between UART enabled HW platform and Matlab, However I would like to ask what/which feature are you considering from ISS over Intel Edison ? When you have more detail configuration about communication channel between Intel Edison and Matlab, it would help to understand your question. Thanks.
