How does the scaling function in older version of cwt work? Isnt it dependent on mother wavelet?

Hi ,

I am a bit confused with the minimal documentation that is provided on the scaling parameter for the earlier version of cwt. How does the scaling function in older version of cwt work? I find some people feeding the original frequency of interest directly as scale while yet others feeding linear integer values without any real meaning. Isnt it dependent on the center frequency of the mother wavelet and should'nt the scale be adjusted based on that?
