xlsread threw exception old format (line 260)

The code is working on my Pc in Matlab R2016a, if my supervisor trys to use it on her pc (Matlab R2017a) she gets the error message:

Error using xlsread (line 260)
Error: The server threw an exception.

The exception in this line is called "Old Format". Does this mean her Excelversion is to old or that my matlab script is not working with her version?
