GUI / Static text box with a subscript

Hi
I have a gui project and i want to write a static text box with a subscript. (s_1).
I have foud a code like this :
set(handles.text355, 'style', 'pushbutton', 'enable', 'off', 'string', '<HTML>S<sub>1')
It works.
But static text turns to push button. I could't change it.
What should i write instead of 'pushbutton'? I tried to write text,statictext,tex. None of them worked.
Could you help me?

This is not possible with a uicontrol style text or edit.
You could experiment with using the Unicode character for subscript 1, but that will definitely not work for R2014a or earlier.
