Coding Edicate for MATLAB App designer

Hello all,

I do not have a lot of experience creating GUIs for data analysis. Currently, I am on a project creating some data analysis tools that will have a lifetime beyond my contract. What would be the proper way to code for longevity in the GUI world? Additionally, What would be the expected etiquette when viewing a MATLAB app's source code?
