A problem about drawing a 3D figure from series of 2D figures

Hi everyone, I have a problem that can't solve for a long time: I have a series of 2d figures like these:
Which means, I have X,Y coordinates, and for every [x,y] there is a value z which shows in color like above. But there is NO function/formula between x, y, and z. So now I want combine these 2D figures to become a 3D one, like this:
or this:
Which means: In this new 3D figure, every 2D figure is a slice. It shows how figure changes along with time. And it would be great if we can interpolate between 2D slices in this new 3D figure.
Can anyone teach me how? Many thanks.

@KSSV. Thanks. But it doesn't work. because if you surf(Z), you will directly get a 3D figure, not a 2D slice.

I guess the solution will be in the docs for Volume visualization , and assigning some (arbitrary?) values for your Z (time?) coordinate... But I don't like (and always interpret wrongly) the meshgrid-like ordering.
