rref function is quite slow. Even for a 1000x1000 dense matrix, it requires more than 10 sec. For example, let us consider the 'kms' matrix from the matlab gallery and test it for various values of its dimension n. >A=gallery('kms',n,0.2); tic; Q=rref(A); toc; The attached figure depicts the execution time in seconds as the dimension of the aforementioned test matrix increases. Although the execution time is expected to be comparable to LU function of Matlab, it seems that rref is several orders of magnitude slow.
