I am trying to set up the arduino add-on on my Mac. I've gotten to the point where I need to chose a port and the only option is "select a value" and nothing else (so I'm unable to program the board). I have my arduino plugged in so I'm not sure why it's not working. This is for a school assignment and I'm following my instructor's instructions to a tee. The only thing I can think would be different is that I'm on a Mac and he's on a PC.
Please help.

Hi Katy, it is my understanding that the serialport is not getting populated in the setup screen.
It might be useful for the community to help you if you provided
  • the OS version of the MAC machine,
  • MATLAB version
that you are trying to connect to the Arduino board.
Moreover, it will be helpful to run the following command to list out the available serial ports connected to your machine
>> seriallist
