Input/output options at the same time in latest version of Matlab, neuroscience

Hey guys, I'm trying to use Matlab for some neuroscience applications. EEG's in particular. I'd like to use the parrallel port and do inputs, and outputs at the same time. I have searched for answers on the questions and answers and I'm kindof hearing that the parrallel port doesn't work in latest 64 bit version of matlab sometimes: I saw one question where somebody found a work around, I'm just confused by the contradictory answers, and I'm curious if it's possible to do input output at the same time as well.
