How can I connect my raspberry pi to my PC directly by a Ethernet cable and use the matlab functions?

The title is self explanatory. WIFI conection works just fine but wirect conection to a PC does not.

In my application a wired conection IS NEEDED.

While I can view the VNC eth0 IP when using the standard Raspbian OS (with required modifications for Matlab use), I get multiple errors when trying to connect to matlab, even with WIFI.

When using the mathworks Raspbian OS, VNC eth0 IP is not present but WIFI connection works.

How can I connect my raspberry pi to my PC directly by a Ethernet cable and use the matlab functions?

I'm using Matlab R2018b and a Raspberry pi 3 B +
