how to classify plant disease using AOW-ELM algorithm

I am begginer for matlab and i do a project on plant leaf disease classification using active online weighted extreme learning machine algorithm. i am confused with the flow of my project. for example: whether the basic image processing steps(enhancement,segmentation, feature extraction) should be done or other methods(train the classification learner) should be done.
