Matlab and step motor drivers?

Among other, one of the most valuable Matlab properties is possibility to control of step motors.

Searching Matlab Answers I see a lot of step motor questions, that have no reply.

Please, share your experience,

• what step motor drivers do you successfully use to realize such control?
• It seems that most convenient interface for such control is USB, but other variants are also interesting.
• I'm interesting using two-coils motors with current in order or less than 1 A.
