Defining a GEO satellite as a node

Hi, could anybody please let me know that how can I define a GEO satellite as well as ground node like server and stationary client? which parameters do I actually need to define it so that I can use it in simulation. e.g., using data rate, delay etc. Actually I am very new in this area. If anybody can share with me it would be great help.
