Dear all, can someone knows how to calculate the kinetic energy of the wind (u and v component)
Thanks for your time and help.

Hello darova, thanks for your reply... I just found this equation for the kinetic energy of the surface current of the ocean. I wasn't sure if i can use the same equation with the wind,
I also found this equation (bit I dont have the wind temperature for density calculatios, and mass)=
  • Kinetic Energy of wind is: 1/2 * mass * velocity * velocity
Thanks
I'm thinking in maybe daily averae of the wind and download temperature from datellite data or reanalysis

Apparently, ‘h’, ‘u’, and ‘v’ are vectors of the same dimensions.
One approach is to code the function as an anonymous function:
Emdk = @(h,u,v,rho,g) h(:).*rho.*g.*hypot(u(:),v(:))/2;
then call it as:
KEwind = Emdk(h,u,v,rho,g);
The hypot function makes this easier.
See the documentation on Anonymous Functions for details.
