how to convert 14 tap FIR filter to equivalent IIR filter using FDAtool?

I had a similar problem, looked at your question and later figured out I could use a statement like

[b,a]=prony(h,10,10)

where h is the FIR impulse response

and then use

fvtool(h,1,b,a)

to compare the FIR and IIR filters

So far it seems to work OK!
