"transposition operator" symbol in Mac

I am using a MacBook Pro and would appreciate your help to identify the symbol "transposition operator", with a simple quote MatLab do not recognize as valid. Thank you very much.

The smart quote character is not the ctranspose operator. If you're copying your code from an application that replaces normal single quotes with smart quotes, you'll need to undo that replacement. [Microsoft Word is one application that by default makes this replacement.]
