Saving a .mat file from python

I want to run a matlab script from python. I am able to run it from python. In matlab file, I used regionprops() to get the bounding boxes. I want to save that file or workspace which contains those coordinates from python.
How can I do that? Can somebody help me please?

Hi,
I guess you can pass the data returned from regionprops from MATLAB to Python using matlab engine.
