How to make a quiver plot look good

Hej!

Im using quiver to plot a wind field, but the plotting of the arrows is horrible: the lines are not even straight, but look jagged. I think this has something to do with the resolution, either of the matrix, or the plot, but I do not know how to resolve that.

A second question: Is it possible to use quiver with FILLED arrow heads? The standard way of plotting does not look very nice....
