change contrast(brightness) of the scatter plot

how can i modify the contrast(to light red color or dark red color)

I'm not sure what you mean by "contrast" in this case? You can set() the color of the underlying axes, or you can use an RGB triple when you set the color.
scatter(a, b, 1000, [0.5 0 0]); %medium red
