How do I use a combination of normal and subscript charactersIn a toggle button string propertyuibutton?

Subscripting would require setting the text interpreter as tex or latex but it looks like setting the interpreter propery is still not an option for uibuttons (r2020b).

Aw, crud. I suppose I can create my own buttonfrom a "selectable" image object inside an axes graphics object using its ButtonDownFcn property (for either the image, axes, Or both).

You can load images to UIbuttons, too.
