Draw a gradient on 3d suface.

I have matrixes of temperatures and thicknesses. I use "surf" to draw thickness and i want to place arrows on this surface, like function "quiver" draws arrows on 2d surface. I know about function quiver3, but it draws something like a hedgehog. I need this arrows to be on surface.

I also tried "streamslice", but this function doesn't indicate the difference in value of gradients.

I'll be appreciated for your advices.
