uiwait until button pressed in another gui

Hello

as described in the title, my problem is to make a mainGui stall until a button is pressed in another Gui. Or to set the static text in GUI1 from GUI2.

I have tried the second obtion using findobj which work ok, except when I, in my GUI2, eveluate my closefunction. the close function should close down GUI2 but is now closing down GUI1

relevant code from GUI2:

handles.text1 = findobj(main_gui_v1, 'tag', 'text1');
set(handles.text1, 'string', browseData{1,1}.name);

guidata(hObject,handles);

feval(fhcloseGui);

the first suggestion with uiwait and uiresume is new to me

any suggestions on how to do this?
