How do I acquire data from a thermocouple input using data acquisition toolbox?

I am using a SCXI-1112 module to input a thermocouple and the data acquisition toolbox. Using legacy-based interface the voltage input of a function generator was acquired successfully, however if I use the same method with a thermocouple I get a zero value.
