Is it possible to Plot a Music Visualizer?

Hello everyone,
I haven't started the project yet because I am brainstorming at the moment, but I wanted to ask if an endeavor was even worth pursuing. I was thinking about making some kind of code that would input different files of music, and sample them for a short amount of time. I was wondering if it was possible during that time the music is playing to plot something like a music visualizer? I included a picture to show what i'm thinking about (I hope it uploads well enough). It doesn't have to look exaclty like the picture just something along those lines.
Anyway, Thank you for your time.

I forgot to mentiont hat if it is possible, is there a direction someone could point me in as well so I can have an idea on how to get it going? Thank you again.

If you search the internet for "matlab audio analysis" you'll see very many relevant hits across many platforms. Plus, there's the Audio toolbox and lots of tools to analyze audio data.
