Hello, everyone. Paul here from MathWorks. I'd like to invite you to check out our recent webinar on Batch Process Optimization with MATLAB. This introductory webinar will demonstrate how you can get started using MATLAB to model and optimize your batch processes.

Batch processes are used to produce a wide range of products such as beer and wine, dyes and pigments, fragrances and essential oils, and in the case of the demonstration webinar, pharmaceuticals. In particular, you'll see how you can use data stores to easily load data from various constant temperature trial runs and use MATLAB's interactive plotting and crafting tools to quickly begin exploring your data.

We'll then use this bioreactor data to deposit a simple process model and estimate the corresponding temperature varying kinetic parameters to describe the biomass growth and death cycle of an organism as it consumes and depletes the nutrient.

With a model of our process, we can then set up an optimization problem to determine the optimal temperature variance schedule that will maximize the biomass yield of this process. Finally, we'll perform a quick monte-carlo analysis to evaluate how temperature uncertainties might impact the yield.

I described the problem and walked through each step in more detail during the webinar, which can be viewed using the link below.
