Teaching Control Design with MATLAB

Please access the Course Materials here.

Overview

Keeping students engaged in an online mode of learning can prove to be difficult. In this webinar, MathWorks engineers will discuss some common challenges in teaching Control Systems in foundational university courses, and share some best practices on teaching key concepts such as:

  • What are Transfer Functions and why do we use them?
  • Why use Frequency-domain plots and what do they mean?
  • How to create block diagrams?
  • What is a PID Controller, and how do we tune one?

We will also share classroom-ready resources that can be immediately deployed in your course.

Highlights

You will learn about approaches and resources to teaching:

  • Frequency-domain and time-domain plots of Transfer Functions
  • Simulate and linearize a model of a physical system
  • Design, tune and validate a control loop
