The surface area of each of the three parts is equal to half the surface area of the apple? The volume of each of the three parts is equal to half the volume of the apple?

When you say, "each part is equal to the half of the apple", what property of "each part" should be equal to the "half of the apple"?
Is the property Volume(which cannot be solved I would guess) or Surface Area?

i guess apple/3 = apple/2 ?

If so then Jos's solution is correct.

The trivial solution apple==0 is a problem for kids level. The Banach Tarski method is not for computing, its theoretical based on Choice Axiom.
Boths methods are tricky on its own way.

Easy: apple is zero, since apple/3 == apple/2
