grayscale converting color image and 3D

Hi, I have a rectangular box picture as greyscale format . I want to convert it to a color image later I want to convert it to 3D image like a 3D real box and show them in GUI axis. Regards,

I don't know what a "3D real box" is. But you can turn a grayscale image into a 3D (RGB) true color image with cat():

rgbImage = cat(3, grayImage, grayImage, grayImage);

To show in a GUI axes control:

axes(handles.axesImage); % Or whatever axes you want.
imshow(rgbImage);
