Connection between app designer and simulink

Hi In my simulation in App Designer, by pressing push bottom, an m.file is run, and in this mfile, a Simulink simulation is run with the sim(). I would like to have another push bottem in the GUI that when pressed will stop instant the simulink program running and also update the m.file parameters. please guide me
