I am on a tight budget, so if not free, then I would be willing to pay but preferably not too large an amount.

Well, I'm not bad, and the collective resources of dozens of volunteers in the Answers community are even better. And we're all free.
Steve's blog https://blogs.mathworks.com/steve/ is also free and has lots of interesting discussions and explanations.
For super cheap programming, you can check out fiverr.com where you can have programs written for less than the cost of lunch. (Disclaimer: I have an account there.)

Oh my gosh! That's a steal! Except it says "gig discontinued"?
I am just getting into image processing. I work in the lighting and LED industry, so I work with outputting light more than deterining images, but I work in R&D.
I am the foremost person for code in my company, but 1) I was engineering and 2) I just graduated 4 months ago.
I would absolutely love GUIs for the work I do. I don't know how you keep up being so helpful for so long, but please know that I appreciate it.

OK, thanks for telling me William. The web site is kind of weird, but I figured out how to "unpause" the gig.
Good luck in your new career. It sounds exciting.
Here's a good GUI framework to get you started: https://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/24224-magic-matlab-generic-imaging-component

Look into

ImageJ is free and also has a pretty awesome list of plugins, but I don't really know what you want/need. It's really, really extensive but maybe too broad.
