Louvere Walker-Hannon is a senior team lead in application engineering at MathWorks, where she provides strategic direction on AI, data science, and technical workflows, while leading a team of engineers. With over 25 years at MathWorks and experience in three engineering roles, she holds a B.S. in biomedical engineering and an M.P.S. in geographic information technology with a specialization in remote sensing.
Louvere is a passionate STEM advocate, especially for underrepresented groups in technology. She volunteers with several organizations, including the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), where she was recently reelected as programs chair for the Boston Chapter; Women in Data Science (WiDS); the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE); and the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), where she has held leadership roles such as senator and will be a director on SWE’s board of directors for FY26–FY27.
A frequent speaker at major conferences, she has presented at Neural Information Processing Systems (NeurIPS), Grace Hopper Celebration (GHC), Women in Data Science (WiDS), Open Data Science Conference (ODSC) East, Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Local and Annual conferences, the American Meteorological Society (AMS), and the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). Her work often explores how AI can address societal challenges. She has also served in leadership roles for conferences such as the International Conference on Machine Learning (ICML) and NeurIPS.
Louvere’s contributions have earned her accolades, including MathWorks Application Engineer of the Year (2020), the SWE Engaged Advocate Award (2022), and recognition as one of Boston University’s College of Engineering Distinguished Alumni (2023). She was also named among the 50 Most Influential Business Leaders of Color by Charles River MetroWest.
In her spare time, she enjoys mentoring, volunteering, and promoting STEM education for youth. She is excited to be a speaker during WE25 and connect with members of the SWE community.
