Description

GENESYS delivers rich model-based systems engineering to underpin a user's project success. GENESYS allows teams to collaboratively build, manage, and leverage a single integrated model connecting the problem (from concept of operations to formal requirements) to the solution (both logical behavior and physical architecture) to verification, validation, and even program management. Users can access a full suite of representations, spanning SysML, DoDAF, classic structured views, and reports generated on demand, so they can focus on engineering their system rather than engineering their artifacts. With GENESYS, users can also leverage its open architecture to connect to team members working in Microsoft® Office, to specialists working in analytical tools, to project managers, and to the greater enterprise as users take advantage of an integrated single source of truth for their systems engineering efforts.

The strength of GENESYS is the integrated descriptive architecture, from requirements through behavior and physical structure. The properties and parametrics captured in the descriptive architecture are exposed for detailed analysis and design. The MATLAB® Constraint Solver embedded in GENESYS provides the ability to solve a set of parametric equations constraining the design of a system. The MATLAB Constraint Solver converts project relationships, parameter values, and attribute values into scripts that can be directly executed against the MATLAB engine without having to leave the GENESYS interface via COM. Following script execution, project parameter values can be updated based on the MATLAB solution. This increases the coupling of the architectural and analytic dimensions of systems engineering.

GENESYS also created a Simulink Connector embedded in GENESYS to bridge between systems and detailed design. When constructing the physical architecture in GENESYS, a Simulink block type can be set moving from an abstract component to a specific instantiation. The leaf-level physical structure can then be exported from GENESYS to Simulink (complete with blocks, block types, connections, and design parameters) for detailed design and analysis, avoiding rework and accelerating the collaborative design effort.
