Description

PTV Vissim digitally reproduces the movement patterns of all participants of a multimodal traffic scene (road and rail vehicles as well as pedestrians) on a microscopic scale. All traffic participants interact with each other and the traffic infrastructure on basis of scientifically proven behavior models and individual decisions. Broad options for parameterization enable you to replicate traffic scenes from across the world. With the help of scenario management, you can evaluate and optimize the performance of transport infrastructure, make data-based planning decisions, or test the impact of new transportation technologies like automated driving or V2X-communication on traffic.

You can use the traffic simulation to create reactive test environments for virtual vehicle development. PTV Vissim has interfaces to many simulation programs for full vehicles, components, or control logics. Cosimulation with PTV Vissim adds realistic and reactive surrounding traffic to your virtual test drives. The intelligent, behavior model-based actions and reactions of the surrounding traffic create continuous interaction with the system under test. You can challenge an automated driving logic in dense, aggressive traffic or test the operating strategy for a powertrain in a long virtual test drive. Because of the decision-making capabilities of the intelligent traffic actors, there is no need for scripting individual scenarios. Large-scale traffic scenes evolve realistically from the interactions of the actors with each other, the traffic infrastructure, and the system under test.

The Vissim Connector couples MATLAB® and Simulink® to PTV Vissim. This enables you to test, for example, an automated driving logic in the traffic from the microscopic simulation. A continuous exchange of speed, position, and other variables of all Vissim vehicles with the system under test in Simulink and vice versa ensures a smooth interaction in dynamic traffic. You can use it to run trajectories from the Driving Scenario Designer app, generate various detection data from simulated sensors, and more. In addition, Vissim’s COM interface enables scripting for customization of individual simulations or advanced automation around the simulation. It can be addressed directly from MATLAB and Simulink to trigger automated batch simulations of different scenarios based on a variation of start parameters. To utilize road scenes developed by RoadRunner in Vissim, users can import them via the OpenDRIVE format.
